Forward Looking
Aging for All Ages
by
Karen A. Halley
As we age, we are faced with increasing pressures about what the future may bring: How do I ensure I’m well looked after when I’m elderly? What can I do to help my loved ones as they get older and need assistance? These are just a few of the questions we must consider. But it is not enough to just consider them. It is important to plan for potential events and then implement those plans to mitigate difficulties as they arise. This includes talking to loved ones about housing concerns when living alone is no longer viable, designating a power of attorney before dealing with end-of-life care, or preparing detailed wills to minimize confusion for those left behind. Change is a constant we must all contend with. The Forward Looking guidebook urges you to remember that truth and learn how to better care for yourself and others as those changes occur. It helps you explore the scenarios that may arise as we age and require help from professionals or loved ones. It provides a framework for problem-solving before a situation occurs so you can act rather than react when something does happen. This book offers starting places to begin to handle certain situations, while allowing you to do your own research and find the solution that best suits you. It is not an exhaustive look into aging and how to manage it. Rather, it invites you to ask questions and make the process of aging a more active part of your life.
