Though her mother has been missing since she was only a baby, Yara lives in a home full of love with her geologist father, Olivio, and her Abuela in a lively Caribbean village. On a regular outing with her father collecting rocks at the top of a steep mesa, Yara accidentally steps over the edge . . . but she doesn’t fall.
