Mina and her Magic Bubble
by Dheeksha Reddy

Every child has a magic bubble: Mina just learns how to see hers. Mina’s Magic Bubble is a gentle, empowering story that helps young readers understand one of the most important lessons which are often not thought by our society : your body belongs to you. When Mina discovers a shimmering bubble that grows and shrinks with her feelings, she learns that it represents her personal space, her boundaries, and her voice. Through imagination, courage, and the support of trusted grown-ups, Mina navigates confusing moments like hugs she didn’t want and touches that didn’t feel right. Her magical bubble becomes a guide, teaching her how to listen to her feelings, say “No,” step away, and tell a safe adult. Written with warmth and care, and beautifully illustrated with glowing worlds and gentle colors, this story introduces children to: Body autonomy and personal boundaries; Safe, unsafe, and “uh-oh” touch; Secrets vs. surprises and How to speak up and ask for help. Perfect for parents, caregivers, teachers, social workers, and counsellors, Mina’s Magic Bubble creates an accessible, age-appropriate space to begin conversations that many families find difficult to start. With interactive activities, reflection prompts, and a Certificate of Bravery, this book helps every child build confidence, courage, and lifelong safety skills. A heartwarming resource for every home, classroom, and community; reminding children that their feelings matter, their voice is powerful, and their bubble is always worth protecting.

“A transformative book rooted in compassion and healing. Mina’s Magic Bubble reflects the heart of Touch: safety, courage, and the belief that every child deserves to be heard.”

Dheeksha is the founder of Touch, a social impact startup dedicated to creating safe spaces, resources, and conversations around body safety, healthy relationships, and well-being. Through Touch, she works to provide children, families, and communities with the tools to talk about topics that are often silenced; like safe and unsafe touch, personal boundaries, and healing after harm. Her debut book, Mina’s Magic Bubble, is deeply connected to that mission. Drawing from her own personal experiences, as well as the stories of friends and community members who grew up with questions that were never spoken about, Dheeksha wanted to create something different for today’s children: a story that gives them language, courage, and confidence to protect their personal space. With a background spanning Bachelors Neuroscience and Psychology, Social work a Master’s in Experimental Surgery, a Master of Public Health, and finishing her PhD in Rural and Northern Health, Dheeksha brings both scientific knowledge and human experience into her work. Her dream is to continue working with communities and developing holistic approach to care and continuing her journey of learning, healing, and advocacy. Beyond her professional work, she finds joy in the everyday; spending time with her two beloved puppies, channeling her creativity into writing and art, and even finding calm in the simple act of cleaning. In recognition of her leadership and impact, Dheeksha was named one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women. Through both her startup Touch and her storytelling, she hopes every child will know: your body belongs to you, your feelings matter, and your voice is powerful.
