Simple Healing
A Year of Learning
by
Tanus Tosh McNeill
When your body won’t give you answers, how do you keep living with hope? Simple Healing is a warm, reflective year-long memoir that invites readers to walk alongside Tanus Tosh McNeill as she searches for the cause of her debilitating headaches. When the medical system cannot provide clear explanations, Tosh McNeill turns to writing, reading, and intentional living as ways to steady herself through uncertainty. With honesty and compassion, she explores how simplicity, mindfulness, and environmental awareness can gently restore a sense of balance and control. Choosing less—less clutter, less pressure, less striving—becomes a way to make room for resilience and quiet healing. Tosh McNeill reflects on chronic illness with clarity and consideration, offering reassurance to anyone who has felt overwhelmed by the unknown. Drawing on her experience as a former teacher and teacher-librarian, Tosh McNeill also shares thoughtful reading recommendations and practical strategies for writing and simplifying daily life. These tools invite readers to reconnect with creativity, deepen self-awareness, and regain a sense of agency—even when circumstances cannot be changed. Hopeful and empowering, Simple Healing speaks to anyone living with chronic or undiagnosed illness, navigating uncertainty, or seeking a gentler, more intentional way forward. It is a reminder that while we may not control the future, we can shape how we meet it—one mindful choice at a time.
