Lizbeth isn’t looking for trouble—but trouble seems to find her anyway. On the surface she appears to be a typical teenage girl, but inside she’s bubbling with rebellious urges that threaten to derail her entire life. Thankfully, Lizbeth is surrounded by people who care about her, including her older brother Liam, her parents, and her church. All of them attempt to steer Lizbeth straight by teaching her what the Bible says about the dangers of continuing down the path she’s on and how she can change. Other people also step in to help, including a teenage boy named Jesse who is struggling with similar issues, a friendly thrift store owner, and an elderly stranger. Even a handful of angels are thrown into the mix. Through it all, Lizbeth, Jesse, and everyone around them are transformed as they all strive to live in a way that is faithful to the Bible and the God in whom they believe.

Rev. Dr. Doretha Guion-Colbert is a career educator. She holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and political science from Kentucky State University, a master of arts in education from Eastern Kentucky University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Oklahoma State University. She is a former university administrator and professor, public school administrator, itinerant special educator, and elementary educator who worked in the multicultural environments of Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Illinois. Her desire to serve humankind has led her to earn credentials as a life coach, behavioral health case manager, behavioral health rehabilitation specialist, time-management trainer, and professional development trainer. Furthermore, her service has led to her receiving several honorary degrees, including doctor of women ministries, doctor of Christian counseling, doctor of publication, doctor of expository preaching, and doctor of youth counseling.
