The Age Gauge on Food
A Guide to Living Longer and Healthier
by
Kimberly MacPhail
At the age of forty, my husband set himself a simple challenge: to be healthier as he aged, instead of the other way around. It started out easily enough but got progressively more difficult over time. The main problem? With every year that passes, the body ages at an increasingly faster pace, which meant he had to start to learn a lot more about ways to slow down this destructive process. Everything was going smoothly until a motorcycle accident in 2018 forced him to leave his career and put his life on hold. This time away from work along with the isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic gave him the time needed to work on more in depth self-healing techniques. He developed twelve ways to do this, known as the twelve spokes in the Wheel of Life. The Age Gauge uses the twelve spokes of the Wheel of Life to show you how we can live longer and healthier lives. For 99.9% of human history, our ancestors thrived in an environment with many sources of adversity. For this reason, adversity is baked into our human cells through our longevity genes. Science shows that when we expose ourselves to the many sources of adversity, we stimulate our longevity genes and live longer and healthier. Unfortunately, we are doing the opposite, moving more and more towards a life filled with many modern-day conveniences. This is the opposite of adversity. The universe around us provides all the hints we need to be healthy, we just need to open our minds. In this book, you’ll learn about what keeps us healthy and what makes us sick, and see the path we are currently on, which is at a breaking point from a global health perspective. John urges us all to wake up to the self-destructive path we’re on. He’s going to teach you the things that work for the average person—habits you can easily implement into your life, things that won’t cost you a fortune. Best of all, he’s done all the research for you. This book is the culmination of decades of reading, learning, asking questions, trial and error, studying, and working with thousands of friends, family members, clients, and students. Learn how to accomplish goals like losing weight, moving your body more, having less stress, getting outdoors, connecting with Mother Earth, overcoming addictions, learning about nutrition, getting healthy and staying healthy. No matter how far you are off track in your life (addictions, stress, struggles with weight or mental health), there is a way to come back to the way we, as a human race, thrive best. This is my story of John’s journey to better health using his Wheel of Life concept.
