Beastly Limericks
by
Fred Howe
The 19 animals (beasts) in this book relate their awkward experiences through limericks. Each limerick is accompanied by a delightful, humorous illustration. Limericks are a great way for children to experience the joy and rhythmic patterns of words. Becoming familiar with limericks will help a child develop reading skills and may even encourage the creation of his or her own limericks to share. As a parent or grandparent, reading limericks to your child or grandchild can be a wonderful, shared experience.
The author, Fred Howe, is a retired educational psychology professor from Buffalo State College who enjoyed limericks as a child. He hopes to have children today have a similar enjoyment through Beastly Limericks.
